His only son, who would have helped him, was in an Israeli prison. The
old man wrote a letter to his son and mentioned his predicament. Shortly,
he received this reply, "For HEAVEN'S SAKE, Dad, don't dig up that
garden, that's where I buried the GUNS!"

At 4 o'clock the next morning, a dozen Israeli soldiers showed up and dug
up the entire garden, without finding any guns. Confused, the old man
wrote another note to his son telling him what happened, and
asking him what to do next.

His son's reply was: "Now plant your potatoes, Dad. This is the best I
can do for you at this time."

Filistin’de yalnız yaşayan ihtiyar bir adam bahçesine patates dikmek ister. Ancak bu onun için oldukça zor iş olduğundan kendine tek yardımı dokunacak kişisi olan İsrail hapisanesindeki oğluna mektup yazar ve müşkül durumda anlatır.

Kısaca oğlundan şu cevabı alır:

‘Allah aşkına! Baba bahçeye kazma vurma, ben oraya silahları gömmüştüm’!

Öbür gün saat gece 4’te bir düzine İsrail askeri gelir ve bütün bahçeyi kazarlar, sonuçta tek silah da bulunamaz. Kafası karışan yaşlı adam, oğluna şu ikinci notu gönderip ne olduğunu ve daha ne yapılacağını sorar.

Oğlunun cevabı şöyledir:
‘Şimdi patatesleri dik Baba. Buradan sana yapabileceğim en iyi şey bu şimdilik’.
